The
following is some general information regarding the Aquaculture
Licences Appeals Board.
MEMBERSHIP
OF BOARD
As provided for under Section 23 of the Fisheries (Amendment)
Act, 1997, the Board consists of a Chairman and six other members.
The Chairman was appointed by the Government for a term of 5
years, from 27 November 2008 to 26 November 2013.
Mr
Mario Minehane, Mr Sean Murphy and Mr Lorcán Ó
Cinnéide have served on the Board since 4 December 2003.
They were reappointed as members with effect from 1 January
2005 for a period of three years up to 31 December 2007. They
were once again re-appointed with effect from 1 January 2008
for a further period of three years up to 31 December 2010.
Mr Mario Minehane was appointed Deputy Chairperson, by the Minister
of State at the Department of Communications Marine and Natural
Resources, Mr John Browne, T.D., with effect from 19 April 2007
for the remainder of his term of office. He was re-appointed
as Deputy Chairman for a further period of three years with
effect from 1 January 2008 to 31 December 2010.
Ms
Karin Dubsky was appointed by the Minister of State for Communications,
Marine and Natural Resources, Mr Pat the Cope Gallagher, T.D.,
for a period of two years from 1 January 2005 to 31 December
2006. She was re-appointed by the Minister of State at the Department
of Communications Marine and Natural Resources, Mr John Browne,
T.D., on 5 April 2007 for a further period of two years. Ms
Dubsky was again re-appointed by the Minister for Agriculture
Fisheries and Food, Mr Brendan Smith, T.D., on 5 April 2009
for another period of two years to 4 April 2011.
Ms
Deirdre MacGabhann was appointed by the Minister for Agriculture,
Fisheries and Food, Ms Mary Coughlan, T.D., for a period of
three years from 1 January 2008 to 31 December 2010.
Mr
Michael Sweeney was appointed by the Minister for Agriculture
Fisheries and Food, Mr Brendan Smith,T.D., for a period of three
years from 13 July 2009 to 12 July 2012.
